Small Weddings at Restaurants: Virtual Tour of Métier

More and more couples — not just because of COVID-19 guideline restrictions — are choosing to host small weddings. Small weddings provide an opportunity to make your celebration even more customized, reflective of you, and seamless and meaningful for your guests.

If you love food as much as I do, a smaller wedding also provides you a chance to craft a thoughtful and intentional culinary experience. With fewer guests, the food can now be more of a central element of the celebration.

I've collaborated with 87 & Smith Films to create video tours of four spectacular restaurants that are some of my personal favorites here in DC that couples could consider for a small, intimate wedding.

At Rex & Regina Events, we believe there is something magical about breaking bread around a table together and that good food is central to any celebration. If you feel the same, we’d love to guide you through the entire wedding planning process – creating a seamless experience from invitation to exit – including helping you find meaningful ways to incorporate food into the celebration.

Small Weddings at Restaurants: Virtual Tour of Gravitas

One of the restaurants we’re featuring in our four-part series on the beauty of hosting a small wedding at a restaurant, is Gravitas. With multiple spaces including a front atrium, main dining room with a view into the kitchen, a mezzanine, and a rooftop garden, Gravitas’ flexible space is a perfect choice for a small wedding from start to finish. Chef Matt Baker creates incredible, seasonally-driven menus and the service is always spot-on. It's easy to how they earned their Michelin Star!

If you’re as passionate about food as we are, we’d love to guide you through the process of creating a food-driven, people-centric celebration. Learn more at the link to our website in our bio.

Many thanks to 87 & Smith Films for the amazing film and to Lucy Black Entertainment for the talented guitarist featured in the video.

Small Weddings at Restaurants: Virtual Tour of Chloe

Chloe is the next restaurant we're featuring in our four-part series on the benefits of hosting a small wedding at a restaurant. Located in the Navy Yard, Chloe is a dynamic space that includes a bar area, a main dining room, and patio. Chef Haidar Karoum and his team design menus inspired by many types of cuisine and served in a communal style — creating opportunities for guests to engage with one another around the table.

Many thanks to 87 & Smith Films for the amazing film and to Lucy Black Entertainment for the jazz trio featured in the video.

Small Weddings at Restaurants: Virtual Tour of Bresca

Small weddings are emerging as a trend and, with that brings more opportunities to personalize and customize your celebration. I’ve collaborated with 87 & Smith Films to create video tours of four spectacular restaurants that are some of my personal favorites here in DC that couples could consider for a small, intimate wedding.

The first of four restaurants in the series, Bresca, is a favorite of mine for not only its classic-technique driven-menu, but also for its vibrant, colorful, modern vibe. Chef Ryan Ratino and his team create a personalized dining experience that is warm, friendly, as well as polished. Boasting a Michelin star, the restaurant has wowed me each time I’ve been there… and I will never tire of its special twist on the classic Bees Knees cocktail.

Whether it is at Bresca, another restaurant, or wherever you’d like to host your food-driven, people-centric celebration, we’d love to guide you through the entire wedding planning process – creating a seamless experience from invitation to exit.

Why Host Your Small Wedding at a Restaurant?

Video tours of four DC restaurants perfect for small weddings

More and more couples — not just because of COVID-19 guideline restrictions — are choosing to host small weddings. Small weddings — often less than 50 guests — provide an opportunity to make your celebration even more customized, reflective of you, and seamless and meaningful for your guests.

If you love food as much as I do, a smaller wedding also provides you a chance to craft a thoughtful and intentional culinary experience. With fewer guests, the food can now be more of a central element of the celebration.

Help Save DC Restaurants

By now you all know my undying passion for food and dining. Over the twenty-five years that I have lived in the DC-area, I have seen the DC dining scene evolve, elevate, and grow, and have had the pleasure of patronizing many of those restaurants along the way.

Dining brings me incredible joy. Sometimes it looks like dining solo at the bar after a long day, ordering a comforting meal, and winding down with an expertly paired wine. Other times, it looks like a table surrounded friends, catching up and toasting and sharing our lives. Sometimes it is coffee with clients, laptop out, working together on their event and getting to know one another in the process. Regardless of the scenario, I am most “in my zone” and always at home dining out.

One of the benefits of frequenting dining establishments is getting to know the staff that makes the magic happen. And over those twenty-five years I have met so many amazing and talented people — those who craft magical elixirs, push the envelope in the kitchen, and extend gracious service. They have become part of my world, and so many of those relationships I am blessed to have evolved into friendships.

Does the DC dining scene mean something to me? Yes. Has it elevated my spirits in hard times (the time when a barfriendor watched me cry over a loss)? Made celebrations even more special (when staff celebrated victories and milestones alongside me)? Has it expanded my knowledge and passion about food (each time staff took time to share their expertise about the menu)? Yes. Yes. Yes.

“My heart breaks” is not a strong enough phrase to express how I feel about the current situation in the DC restaurant scene. These are people I have cheered for and admired; who work ridiculous hours to bring joy to others; and who I want to see thrive.

Please join me in finding ways to support your local restaurant scene — whether in DC or in the community you live in. Buy gift certificates, SWAG, support go-fund me pages, and order take out from those that are offering it.

Below is a list of some of my personal favorite DC restaurants that have touched my life over the years, and ways to support them in this time. Of course, there are so many more restaurants that also need our support. Let’s do all we can to help these establishments weather the storm.

When things stabilize — and they will — I look forward to returning to the tables at my favorite haunts, to those places I’ve been wanting to revisit, and spots that have been on my list to try. And I hope you will join me.

Cheers,
Teresa
